AGM Container Controls, Inc. is a 2009 Regional Winner

WASHINGTON, DC—AGM Container Controls, Inc. (AGM) in Tucson, AZ, has been selected as one of seven regional finalists for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year award. The award was given in recognition of the company’s dedication to excellence in several categories.

AGM was selected as the winner of the Western Region, an area which encompasses the states of Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada and Utah.

Only one of the seven regional finalists will be honored with the national award during America's Small Business Summit 2009 in Washington, D.C., May 11-13. However, all the regional finalists and the initial 56 Blue Ribbon award winners will also be honored at the summit.

Howard Stewart, AGM’s President, reports that he is “elated to hear that AGM had been selected as the winner of the Western Region.” He went on to say, “I think it’s great that AGM is being acknowledged for our community involvement, corporate culture, and business success. I also think it’s wonderful that a little manufacturing company from Tucson, AZ, can compete at the regional and national levels for such a prestigious award. It says a lot about the state-of-the-art business practices that are evolving both here in Tucson, as well as throughout Arizona.”

Howard will attend the event with his parents, Roger and Joyce Stewart, who founded AGM in 1970. Howard’s sons, Clayton (18) and Russell (16), will be flying in from Hesston College to join the family for the event.

The Small Business of the Year Award, sponsored by Sam's Club®, recognizes a business for demonstrating exemplary business practices in the areas of staff training and motivation, community involvement, customer service, and business and financial planning.
